A WOMAN from Weston-super-Mare has won the BBC Radio Four Brain of Britain quiz show.
Retired secretary Daphne Fowler, aged 58, beat two university lecturers and a former Mastermind champion in the final to win a silver plate.
Daphne, of Coniston Crescent, Weston, who dropped out of university, is a member of the Bristol Hotel pub Good Ideas quiz team in Locking Road.
In 1983 she won a car in the popular show Sale Of The Century and a year later reached the semi-finals of the Brain Of Britain.
And in 1988 she won the first-ever series of the quiz show Going For Gold. Earning herself a trip to the Olympic Games.
Mrs Fowler, who took early retirement from Nat West Bank last year, said: -I heard the others in their semi-finals and thought I would come a good fourth."
